Shonentai (少年隊)  is a Japanese male idol group produced by Johnny Kitagawa under Johnny & Associates. Their debut single, Kamen Butoukai, was released on December 12, 1985 under Warner Music Japan.

Trivia
  • As of May 2018, this group with the longest activity in Johnny’s history.
  • Nishiokori Kazukiyo is leader of the group.
  • Began the activity as a group since 1981 and debuted in 1985.
  • Its label changed twice: Warner Music Japan (1985 – 1992), Pony Canyon (1993 – 1996), Johnny’s Entertainment (1997 – current)
  • Nickname of the group is Shonen (ショーネン).
  • At the beginning, Shonentai had 20 – 30 members including 3 current members. They were still the part of Johnny’s Jr. Then they appeared on TV Tokyo’s program “The Young Best Ten” started on October 6, 1981. Nishikiori, Uekusa and Matsubara became members of Team B, changed later as Johnny’s Shonentai. In 1982, the members changed from Matsubara to Higashiyama.
  • Became back dancer for Tahara Toshihiko and Kondo Masahiko before debut.
  • Won gold medal in “Hawaii Music Festival” on November 1982.
